We understand that flood waters have impacted the area around West and East Cowick, including the A614. Flood Warning issued on 7 Mar 2020 11:54
River Don
Whilst washland levels remain high and flooding is still affecting properties in East Cowick, levels in Snaith Ings continue to slowly fall and the risk of additional property flooding has reduced. The bank at East Cowick is not spilling. As levels are continuing to fall, risk to West Cowick is now reduced. We are not expecting a significant river response from the rainfall currently forecast for the next couple of days, allowing levels to continue to drop. However, further rainfall is forecast in the upper catchments early next week, which combined with high tides peaking on Wednesday, could result in the washland levels starting to rise again from Tuesday. We are continuing our pumping operations to create capacity ahead of this rain. We are monitoring the situation closely and our field teams are onsite in daylight hours. Please avoid walking or driving through floodwater. This message will be updated by 18:00 on 07/03/20 or as the situation changes.

River Don
Levels in Snaith washlands remain high. The risk of property flooding still remains today, 01/03/20, as the floodwater in East Cowick has yet to settle. In East Cowick, Snaith Road and Back Lane are affected. In West Cowick, Little London Lane and High Street are at risk. Rainfall last night did not cause further water to enter washlands from the Aire, however it is keeping the river high, slowing washland draining. Scattered showers are forecast for the next few days, and we do not expect this to cause more water to enter washlands from the river. High tides will continue to fall until Thursday, and river levels should continue to drop, meaning washlands will be able to begin to drain. This will take several days. We have staff on-site pumping to further reduce levels. Please act on your flood plan and report property flooding on 0800 807060. Check road closures at https://bit.ly/3cbWhtH. This message will be updated by 18:35, 01/03/20 or if the situation changes.
